Matthew became a member of ZB1 after ranking 3rd with 1,702,174 votes in BOYS PLANET final. His life motto is "I will do it without regret".

He was born in Vancouver, Canada and has an older sister. He can speak English, Korean and French.
Matthew was a trainee for 1 year and 6 months under MNH Entertainment before being a member of ZB1. Matthew is very close to the leader Hanbin, the two trained together before the survival. Matthew has two tattoos, one on his right arm and one on his back.
